The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...April 27,2009
Outside my window...the sun is coming up. I am up earlier today like I really would like to be everyday.
I am thinking...about work. Praise God I was requested to sub today. Need to be getting ready very soon
From the learning rooms...learning rooms are in dad's hands today. Means reading and lots of hands-on. Kids love hands-on days. Then they have music lesson this afternoon.
I am thankful for..wonderful friends, our families get along so well. Each of the children in both families enjoy each other. Someone for every one to enjoy and most of all they all get along together. This is a huge blessing!
From the kitchen...coffee for the morning drive into town. Other then that something quick for dinner. sloppy Joe's?
I am wearing...soon to be khaki carpi and nice top with flat loafers.
I am reading.. thinking about take my Nicholas Sparks book with me today in place of knitting since my one project is big.
I am hoping for...more work to come my way before school gets out for the summer.
I am creating...patchwork apron. Tote bags and purses to sell.
I am praying...for our Lord's promises and to remember his promise is not always what we think our needs are......
Around the house...it is so quite, I can actually think while typing.
One of my favorite things...flowers in bloom, garden growing. Beauty of life.
Few plans for this week....I'm not sure outside of garden tending, music and school.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you....

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...Monday April 20, 2009
Outside my window...the sun is shining the children are playing with laughter. The wind is blowing perfect for a laundry day.
I am thinking...of all the things I have gotten down and all the things I still would like to get done. My mind is squirrel caging over many things. One in particular that deals with later today I need to make a decision on what I am going to do.
From the learning rooms.....Monday's are life skills and strings practice. We also do get some reading in. Today would be a nice outside relaxing reading day.
I am thankful for....my husband who says I can stay home. That he knows what I need even when I have no clue. He tries his best to give me all I want and need. I really need to thank him more.
From the kitchen.....manicotti with a salad for dinner. Egg salad sandwich for lunch.
I am wearing...my gypsy skirt. I call it that since it is long and full with a tank top and my good old flip flops.
I am reading...nothing, time is spent in other ways.
I am hoping...my garden grows as beautifully as I dream about. Eventually I hope I will be able to get a annoying aggressive weed out of the one part of my garden.
I am creating....a quilt and apron out of scraps (lot of work, hope it is as good as I picture). I am using the pinwheel quilt idea to make it. I love roses and the pink victorian look so that is the fabrics. We will see how it goes. I love putting on my apron in the morning and proceeding with the day. My favorite apron is wearing out so a replacement is much needed.
I am praying.....for God to guide my husband, to provide work for him. I am pondering something the pastor said yesterday, about worshiping our God. I am one of them and I know God is speaking to me about what He wants of me. Not sure if I am ready to let go, I am afraid if I let go.
Around the house....things are beginning to tidy up so the rest of the week may be spent in school books.
One of my favorite things.....I always come back to my sewing, classroom and laundry combo room my husband built this room for me. It is my do all room. Thank you honey!
A few plans for the rest of the week...not real sure about my week, it changes daily. I need to transplant the collard green that where over planted. I may get the children involved, would be good for them.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you....

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today... April 13, 2009
Outside my window... The laundry is on the line. Mowing is going on somewhere near me. The garden has been tended too. I had to thin some rows today. In a couple of days will have two more rows ready to thin. Everything is coming alive nicely in the garden.
I am thinking...of the news I am hearing in the back ground, they are talking of strong storms coming into our county.
From the learning rooms..We are wrapping up and moving on. Need to figure out end of year assessments for 3 of 4 this year. When do I want to do them get with a dear friend on the who. Need to register our baby girl this year.
I am thankful for...my children's love for music, the desire to learn how to play. I hear one working on the piano right now and doing awesome with it
From the kitchen...trying to think of lunch for everyone, as soon as the boys are down cleaning up from last night and this morning. Tonight sausage and beans and rice and biscuits.
I am wearing... my brown comfortable skirt and sleeves top. It is a warm day and I love skirts in the warmer months.
I am reading...nothing at the moment. Just have not found time to read lately to many other things I want to do and need to do.
I am hoping...for lots of rain, we really need it. It just so dry that the fire ban is still in place.
I am creating...a wallet and zipper pouch to match the purse I just finished.
I am praying...for my husband and our Lords guidance with all the decisions he must make.
Around the house... working around the house after many days of living and schooling.
One of my favorite things...the schools are on spring break so we have no where to go this week. More time in the day for our schooling.
A few plans for the rest of the week...so far no plans that I am know of, but hubby is always good at throwing some curves in the path.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...the beauty of homeschooling hands on learning. Our cocoon starting to hatch.

The Resurrection Season

This season has always been my favorite, more then Christmas. This year I am having to work at the joy's that came easy before.

As I stop to thank God today, I have looked around for God's love and promises.
Here are a few I see:

  • Blooms on trees as they come to life again. All around is life, birth and new growth. Christ rose up from the dead out of the tomb on the 3rd day.
  • All the pine trees that surround us display their crosses. What a sight to see a tree covered by crosses. Christ died on the cross for us he rose again for us. God gave his son so that we may be forgiven and have everlasting life. WOW!
  • My daughter is working on memorizing John 3:16. Her brother quoted it to her after memorizing it over more then two years ago. Joy of having the word hide in my children's heart.
  • God is everywhere. I must rejoice in him and trust no matter how hard it gets God has a plan for me and my family.
  • As in The Tale of Annabelle Hedgehog by Stephen Lawhead....book my son read for school.. There is apart about things being simple to do, does not mean they are easy to do. This sticks with me daily and I am making a decision daily to place my faith and trust in God.

Thank you Lord for giving your son for my sins. Thank you Lord for loving me that much. Thank you for the reminders all around me of the sacrifice you made for me. Lord I pray that I will become a better follower of your word. Each time I lose my walk with you I feel terrible and wrong. I need you God I need your love and your promises....................

Cooking

I was finally in the kitchen today. As the boys did some school at the bar. Math takes forever it seems.
Daughter is going to choir, mommy is off to knitting with a very dear friend.
So the boys have the house, well things needed to be ready for them so....
Chicken Divine
Fresh made bread
Buttermilk pie
All made with Love for my men...
Was going to post pictures but I didn't care for how they came out so the imagination is going to have to work this time.
Off to knitting I go, to have such a good time with some wonderful ladies.

The Simple Woman's Daybook April 6,2009

FOR TODAY April 6, 2009

Outside my window it is cloudy as though rain is about to bless us today. We are in drought that has placed bands on open fires. The breeze is drying the clothes on the line quickly even no sun is shinning.

I am thinking of our school plans, changing our schedule so that we are placing more emphasis on God. Math is very important but if we aren't putting God first then where are we with out him we are lost.

I am thankful for all the blessing that God has bestowed on my family this past week.

From the learning rooms we are incorporating Bible Truth, math and LLATL. Then we have strings today we are almost ready for our next recital

From the kitchen I am thinking about a quick meal for dinner since it is 7:00 by the time we get home. Last week we all stayed up to late and we were all wore out from working and playing hard

I am wearing my teddy nightgown not ready to get dressed just yet.

I am creating the same fabric bag. I messed up and had to take it apart. I am also knitting a scarf for my MIL, I did finish the scarf for my niece. Have a list of scarf request just need the yarn to complete.

I am reading Math answers with my eldest son found he gets more correct if we check the answers as he does his lesson. We are almost done with the text book and the math is getting harder. Needs more attention paid as you are doing the problems. Always has been so easy that he could speed thru the math with out much attention paid. Takes the stress out of it for him and gives him some mom time that the younger children receive more of.

I am hoping God blesses us with more work, it has been a very hard. This time of year we have a couple more things we must pay.

I am hearing the washer spinning the silents of reading.

Around the house I have a candle lit that smells so calming and happy. School is the buzz for today

One of my favorite things is the smell of a fresh clean home.

A few plans for the rest of the week: to have a calmer week this week get back to concentration on school

Here is picture thought I am sharing this is my sister and her family at Christmas. I miss her a lot we live far from each other. One day I pray we will be able to be closer in all aspects. My sister is so very important to me!

5 ALIVE

April 1st

I see all the wonderful work my husband has done on our home for us

I hear children talking amongst themselves as one perpares a cake for daddy

I smell dinner cooking spaghetti for me and ribs for dad

I taste the berry wine I am having as I await dinner

I feel a long day coming to a end very soon.

My kitchen as concrete counter was being put in. Painted the back splash to look like slat.

To view or be part of 5 Alive please go to see Peggy at The Simple Woman here

Today was trash day

Not really just cleaning the boys rooms. This one of 3 was the worst. Look I can find the floor now. 1 trash bag full came from here. I see though he could not help himself for long by the picture of pants and hanger on the floor already. Training in the works, with a little boy that just loves his little treasures he finds everywhere.
Out of time for the classroom and laundry today. off to strings we go.

Crop Duster

On Monday as I was post my Simple Woman's Daybook I kept hearing the crop duster very close more so then normal. The kids and I went out to check it out. This is what we saw. He was coming right up over our house. They planted cabbage this year in new field. Just at the end of our road. But nerving for me but the kids really got a kick out of it.
