The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today Monday July 27, 2009

Outside my Window...the sun is coming up I hope we have showers again today. It brought a nice breeze and some wonderful cooler weather yesterday.

I am Thinking....what am I not thinking about. I wish my thoughts in my head could learn Simplicity and order.

From the learning rooms....we are set up to get into the swing of school. I have maps on the table for Geography. We are using Beautiful Feet, kids love the literature way of learning. Then we are going to enjoy some science today. Some plans this year is to do more reading together. Hoping to get into some book clubs with our friends. We are going to do some comprehension guides, together. And of course a daily math lesson.

I am Thankful for...Freedom. Every time this morning I began typing; each thing came back to freedom. Freedom to teach my children, Freedom to choose what store to shop in, Freedom to choose my curriculum to use. Freedom to choose heaven or hell.............

From the kitchen...coffee is brewed. As for today and food preparation not sure were that my lead. Sausage, beans and corn bread? Spaghetti?

I am wearing...my nightie. Not sure what I want to wear yet. Would be easy if I would ever finish the ironing.

I am reading...I have to admit my reading is decreased. Have much I would like to complete.

I am hoping...For a calmer school year.

I am creating...black dress for baby girl, the 2nd sock for #2 son.

I am praying...for my home. I don't have answers, all I can do is pray, I don't want to move I love my home and my piece of country living. But, I do want to follow God's will for me and my family. When God allows us to know if we stay or go. I pray I have the right attitude.

Around the house...all is quite. The children are waking one by one very quietly.

One of my favorite things...my children laying in bed with me as we watch a movie together.

Few plans for this week....getting back into school. Setting up my appointment for the evaluation. Maybe another beach visit.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you... Saturday night at the beach. Little pool on shore perfect for the kids.

Beach

We spotted Dolphins swimming across the shore

Baby girl learning to use the boggy board

Having fun in the waves

Baby girl getting a lift from big brother to see the dolphins jumping

My wonderful hard working hubby after a long day at work.

The rip current was very strong last night.

Our baby girl has no fear and wants to be with her big brothers. My oldest though is the best big brother she could ever ask for….

Looking forward to the next fun evening at the beach.

Smocked sundress, I did it!

I have had the elastic thread for months now. Wanting to try my hand at smocking for a very long time.
So yesterday it went like this walking through the blog world. Stop off at here at one shabby chick
She had a link to Heather Ross on Martha Stewart. Turned out there was a video and Heather showing who to make this dress. Made my day!!!
Heather Ross is the one who wrote Week End Sewing. I so want this book, especially after the peek into the book I found yesterday. Thank you Heather.
Now I am off to make this same dress in my size. Plan on wearing it to the beach today.
Have a blessed day everyone.

For Today... July 20, 2009
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW....the sun is out but overcast, which will keep the heat down today. Hopefully more rain will come.
I AM THINKING....of the wonderful, powerful message pastor gave yesterday on joy.
REAL JOY!
Having it even through all the hard times.
How close are we to the last lap?
Why are we not cheering to the finish line?
FROM THE LEARNING ROOMS...last minute papers with the younger two. The older two are done just need to complete cover pages and finish their portfolio.
They older two have began the next year already.
We will beginning the year with fun geography and hands on science,
we get to grow some mold....
I AM THANKFUL FOR..... That God has placed another very thoughtful God loving family in our life. The friendship and the blessings it brought to both our families have been
a wonderful witness to others of God's grace and love.
FROM THE KITCHEN...glue as my husband referred to it.
Fried rice.
I can not cook rice and we had a good laugh over it with dear friends.
We will have that and egg rolls and fried dough (carnival style)
I AM WEARING....denim skirt and a black tank top.
I AM READING....not much reading this week. Trying to do a daily devotion at least.
I AM HOPING...to get some ironing done today.I have said this everyday for 2 weeks now.
I AM CREATING...the second sock which is now for my son instead of the husband.
I AM PRAYING...for the first time mom and her baby who is in NICU on ventilator (born Sunday morning). I am also praying for a friend and her mom. The news from the doctors just has not been good. We know God is the real doctor of all.
AROUND THE HOUSE...I here my younger two playing together, the older two are outside working together before the rain comes. We are already working on laundry,
which is one of many things we must do this week.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS....rejoicing in family. I spent some wonderful time this weekend with my MIL,sharing my church family with her.
FEW PLANS FOR THIS WEEK....renewal papers filled out, ironing and portfolio
(why do these things seem so tedious when they are simple tasks)
HERE IS A PICTURE THOUGHT I AM SHARING WITH YOU...this is not all the men in the family we were still missing a couple. But these are the majority of our men in our life. That we love very much...

Cooking lessons

Oh I wish I had taken my camera with me.
Today at church the ladies set up the nicest cooking class.
The tables were over the top.
The table my children and myself sat at was gold and crystal. ( Then I found out the history of the dishes and that the crystal was waterford. Eeekkk, and my kids are sitting here.oh my)
One of the ladies dressed as Paula Deane. It was a hoot.....
The food was good we all were served samples of every dish, as they taught us how to prepare each dish.
I came away really wanting to make the broccoli and chicken dish, it had stuffing and cheese. All my kids loved it. Now that is a miracle in its self to get 4 to agree.
In between each demonstration were commercial. You know commercial pay for shows. Boy do we have talent at church. They reenacted pay commercials but using the bible.
One was the NKJV vs KJV (Mac vs IE)
another was Two by Two ( match .com)
The last was the john3:16 (shammy commercial)
We left with door prizes, gift bags and a recipe.
Here is the recipe.
Life's Recipe
1 cup Good Thoughts
1 cup Consideration for Others
3 cups Forgiveness
1 cup Kind Deeds
2 cups Sacrifices for Others
2 cups Well-beaten Faults
Mix these thoroughly and add tears of joy and sorrow and sympathy for others. Fold in 4 cups prayer and faith to lighten other ingredients and raise texture to great height of Christian living. After pouring all this into your daily life, bake well with heat of human kindness. Serve with a smile.
(From Mrs. George Fleming, wife of Neb State Senator)
One of the ladies shared this with all of us after it was shared with her many years ago.
Hope you all, had a great Christian friend fun filled Saturday as I did. I personally am looking forward to next Ladies Cafe cooking lesson.

Blessings

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today July 13, 2009
Outside my window....it is a bright sunny warm day.
A bit cooler then it was last week reaching 108 in the sun at times.
We are having our summer showers each afternoon. Which I love.
I am thinking....about our Lord's grace and mercies.
I have had a very emotional week, involving my oldest son and his health.
Praise God all is good and the test available today can give Doctors answers.
From the learning rooms... life has so many lessons, books can not teach.
Forgiveness, long suffering, humility and humbleness.
Cooperation, giving and understanding.
We will do book work at the end of this week agian.
Life is a classroom
I am still working on the portfolio's for year end.
I am thankful for....Our Lord's blessing and promises.
My family is daily trying to remember God is in control, give him the Glory for all things.
He will give us what we need when we need it.
This is not always easy when we are struggling to hold on to our home,
that we love deeply and appreciate.
Our blood and sweat is in this house.
From the kitchen....Not to sure had a big feast this weekend with our 4th get together.
Hubby said last night he wanted country fried steak.
I am wearing...khaki capri's and top I made with roses on it.
Flip flop of course.
Don't know why I have any other shoes in the closet.
I am reading... Could say Power of the Praying wife but that wouldn't be total truth.
My head has been overwhelmed and headaches are apart of life this past week so reading has not been joyful.
I am hoping... to get time at the beach with our friends.
I am creating... knitting socks and sewing a black performance dress for little princess.
Around the house..all of my children are home this week all extras are back at their homes. Oldest is healthy so hopefully we can, after today's running, must get some lab work done on my son. Slow down get some things around the house done.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you....
this is the beginnings to a front screened in porch. It is 12 x 60.
It will be another living spaces for us. I can picture it in my head already.

We miss you

Our dearly loved full of personality little Jasmine. Has gone on, we deeply miss her.
Her absence is much noticed.

Crocheted rug

Have been wanting to try a crocheted rug for awhile.
I stumbled across a tutorial over at crazy mom quilts
How easy!
We gathered up all the old t-shirts and began.
What I have learned one rug takes alot of t-shirts.
The reason the colors are not mixed well is I started planning for 3 different rugs.
Thinking I had more than enough to go around. Well, was I wrong this 30 x 30 took every last bit. It also has a more raggy look then the tutorial due to knotting some pieces in. I am going to trim them up to have a neater look.
This rug is going in #1 sons room.
We are collecting t-shirts for the next rug.
Now everyone wants one.

The Simple Womans Daybook

For Today July 6, 2009

Outside my window....the sun is shining very bright very early in the morning.

I am thinking....of the week ahead and the plans for our delayed 4th celebration

From the learning rooms...portfolio prep for our year end evaluation.

I am thankful for...my new car. I have wheels again, and nothing is owed on them! This is from God. It was a gift we did not ask for but a need we had with no real means to make it happen.

From the kitchen.. planning for our weekend cook out.

I am wearing...my nightgown I need to iron my clothes.

I am reading....Power of the Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian.

I am hoping...we manage to keep our home.

I am creating....a black dress for my daughter, will need it for orchestra and choir performances.

Around the house...things are quite so far the 6 children are not awake as of yet.. Silence can be a gift at times.

A few plans for the rest of the week... my week is all about Saturday we have the acres to mow and food to shop for and prepare.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Outside my window, what do I see…

but my sweet hubby and his dad building our front porch…at first it will be just a deck the length of our house but when all is finally finished it will be a wonderful screened in front porch.

Where the kids and I can sit and read, do school, quilt, knit, crochet and just sip our southern sweet tea on those summer days talking….or morning cup of coffee as sun comes up..

I am so excited I have always want a screened in porch to sit and relax…
