Year end performances

The little one had her performance first on Sunday night. How cute they were and what a wonderful job. This is really the first time our baby has done something on her own. Already asking to take part next year.

Mimi, Papa and Aunt Mary all were able to come and cheer her on.

One Monday night it was the boys turn. Last string performance for the year. Was the best performance of the year. Turn out to be great. We even had a great turn of people even though it was pouring. Was pouring it was the same week that rain came and came and came.

They were practicing "Evening of Roses".(Jewish folk song) arranged by Daniel May. Beautifully played, how do I describe it I could listen to it over and over.

#1 and #2 performing. It is a very proud thing to see your children learn and grow and doing things you only dreamed of for them. They enjoy it most of all!

#3 son in with his class he has improved in playing this year with leaps and bounds. He stated he has a goal to be in Mr May's group next year and to be there you have to be able to do certain things. Goals are very GOOOD.
Oh course we had our Mimi and Papa there supporting them all the whole way. Thank you Mimi and Papa for your Love and support always!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today.. May 25, 2009 Memorial Day

Outside my window...We have sun and beautiful clear skies.

I am thinking...today will bring, it hardly ever goes as planned.

From the learning rooms.. .we rearranged the classroom yesterday. Today we will try it out with our LLATL and spelling.

I am thankful for... all the men and their families that sacrifice everyday for our country. I am proud of my FIL and husband for the sacrifice they each gave in time of war and time of not.

From the kitchen...homemade maple syrup, fresh homemade bread
I am wearing...Khaki skirt and light blue top, I am unofficially trying to wear 7 days of skirts. It was on Bloom Where You're Planted . She has a link to the hosting site that I can't get to. I am having problems with connecting to some of the blog sites for a couple of days now.
I am going... we might go to Sam's club today. Need to go see papa today, as soon as school is done.

I am reading...pattern's have a new bag I am working on to post on Etsy. Here

I am hoping...to find more time to be in God's word then I have been.

I am creating...summer tote bags, night gowns and a purse.

I am praying ... for the men and women that are serving our country. For our countries leader's.

Around the house... I hear cereal bowls and finishing up details to the classroom. Garden is trying to make it after hubby and #1 son pumped the water out yesterday. Now it is pray and watch.

One of my favorite things...my children. Everything about them I love homeschooling, I love hearing their music and watching them grow.

A few plans for the rest of the week....I am not sure. School of course and prepare for end of year evaluation.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...our week in the rain. That is my garden.

3 Days later

Here is what 3 days of rain looks like.
All my plants are happy
The garden is turning dark green in place of a light yellowy green
Nothing compares to Gods water

And yes it was raining as I took the pictures.
We are blessed that it does let up at times allowing the standing water to recede back.

Back to life

For a week everything in my home has been pretty much on hold, due to me working out of the house. My children are awesome kids and can totally hold down the fort. The husband on the other hand is a different story.

As a reward to my children for being such a great responsible people and doing everything I asked of them including school. They were taken to the Potato Festival in town. They each got to ride the Ferris wheel (#2 son has said never again). Daughter asked for 3 days to ride it but when it came to actually standing in front of that big huge wheel her mind changed quickly.

Chimney Swifts

About 4 yrs ago these guys moved into our chimney every spring. Winter we had our fire going thinking the nest would be ruined. Then spring came and again we would a loud SWOOMP down the chimney and babies would follow shortly.
At first we would see them in flight looked like a bat. Well that was freaky not the say the least bats in my chimney NO THANK YOU. Realized though those were birds sounds.
Well last night 2 babies fell from the nest. Due to the set we have they were having trouble getting back up. Wonderful hubby helped them back past the heat pipes and back to mom and dad they went.
Of course not before we took several pictures to help us figure out what kind of bird they are, which did not take long at all. Found them in my bird book just about right away. Remember we have been watching them in flight and swooping down the chimney for years now.
They are neatiest bird to watch in flight. The noise they make coming down the chimney is really cool too!

Reaping what you sow

Need to get some decor for my garden fence.

Thought we lost most of our plants this winter due to freezes that are not normal for the south. But to our surprise they all made it the roots did not die.

Love seeing the fruits of our labor. Even nicer eating. We have begun harvesting our salad, green beans and even a few collards. The tomatoe plants are full of blooms. The corn was being attacked by some worm and bettle. We treated them the other night. Hopefully that will take care of that issue. Corn is doing great, they bigger then I have ever had before. Looking so forward to the rest of this harvest.

I haven't laughed so hard in along time

I was over at Homesteaders Heart.

I found these videos from a funny Friday post. I laughed so hard that the kids came running from parts of the house. That thought something was wrong. I need to laugh more obviously.

Enjoy and please stop over and check out Kim. She has a wonderful blog that will give you a laugh anytime you need it.
