You will be missed.....

Jonathan May
You touched our hearts and ears,
taught us to appreciate the music.
You showed kindness and gentleness to all,
Had a love for children that is rare.
Always had time for everyone and
never made anyone feel they were imposing on you.
Your absence is deeply felt.......

This weekend very unexpectedly we lost our friend, teacher and conductor.
Jonathan May was a very special person that is going to missed
and never forgotten.

The Finshed Cakes!!!

Barbie came out better than she began.

The purple under leaked into the white fondant, Hubby wanted me to start over.
I was almost in tears.
Barbie was taller then the cake due to her being a ballerina. With bending the knees and stuffing cake crumbs and fondant in the front of her, we were able to get her more up right.

Have been told by every one in the house she has a big butt.

Yes there is a opalescence to the dress. I took sugar water and pink sugar painted it on in between the purple flowers. Wish I had some yellow dots to dot the flowers.
Made a bow at her waist.
And covered the doll so she is not pink.
The butter-cream frosting is the best I have ever made.

Here is the boys cake.Chocolate thru and thru for mud with worms coming out all over.

The Beginning's

The sections are baked. (looking rough since I took them out of the pan to soon and stuck to the counter)

Homemade fondant, fingers are crossed since I have never worked with fondant.
Buttercream icing for the decorating and under line the fondant. Wanted Barbie and dress to match but instead we are having pink and purple. Note in first picture Barbie is pink...I colored the icing purple. ooppps.

Check back later for the finial cake.
I am very nervous of the outcome...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today February 1, 2010

Outside my Window...overcast day warmer then yesterday. Hoping rain will either come early or hold off until I walk 28 children.

I am thinking... about my children and their birthday's. What do I want to do for them and when. All 4 of them are this month. If I stop to think about having them, that was a pretty good valentines present each time. What could have been better then holding a sweet smelling newborn each valentines.

I am thankful for... God giving us 6 years in our home in the country. This summer would be 7 yrs.

I am wearing....jeans, orchestra t-shirt and sneakers.

I am remembering...my daughter was only 6 months old when we moved into our home. It was the year that Florida was hit with 4 hurricanes back to back. Living here has never been dull.

I am going...to orchestra today with my 4 children. Looking forward to getting a walk i today.

I am currently reading...math problems, would like to get back into The Guardian. Lots of school is happening around here, doesn't leave much time for my personal reading.

I am hoping... that my husband will get a break soon form the pine pollen

On my mind....intimacy with God. How too have it?

Noticing that....I feel much better when I walk everyday.

Pondering these words...'I am hungry" I am wondering if these are the only words my oldest son knows anymore.

From the kitchen...ham and potatoes, Cincinnati chili, burritos, and spaghetti.

Around the house... I hear viola and cello practice KASHMIR by Led Zeppelin. The smaller children cleaning the kitchen together.

One of my favorite things...seeing pictures of snow that bring back wonderful childhood memories. With out having to feel the freezing cold and all the work of shoveling our way out of the house.

From my picture Journal...friends finding each other unexpectedly. Neither knew the other was going to the park that day. What's more, it isn't even our local park.

Thank you Peggy for hosting the daybook each week and helping us all remember the simple things in live.
