The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today April 26, 2010

Outside my window...
the sky is overcast, we had lots of lighting and thunder through out the night.
forecast calls for the clearing. Personally I was enjoying
the rain and hoping to see more.

I am thinking...
of how our Lord made everything and everyone
how life is so beautiful as it begins.

I am thankful...
we found our cat with her babies, that they were safe.
And that we are able to enjoy them with the mommy cat.

I am wearing..
peace

I am remembering...
a home I saw last night. It had a wooden cross, an
American flag and a MIA flag. These were displayed together
which made you wonder if it was their own personal cross
or for all the families of the soldiers.
What reminder to keep praying for the soldiers and their families.

I am creating...
still working on the second scarf, quilt by hand.
not much has been done this week due to work and school.

I am going...
to try and get some more school in today.
Going to try to not think about the house until after
orchestra today.

I am hoping and praying...
for a great VBS this year. Can't believe it is like
4 weeks away. I agreed to head up the rec area, now
I need to get myself together and plan it.

From the learning rooms...
planning the year end and working towards it.

I am hearing..
children busy with some of the chores around the farm.

From the kitchen...
Spaghetti and salad
pizza
Lasagna
steak
all not in this order these are meals we have
I still have not done much planning but at least we finally was able to go grocery shopping.
That was rough three week trial of faith of our Lord's provision and promises.

Around the house...
managed to complete alot of cleaning on Saturday and Sunday we
were gone all day so there is not much do this morning.
This good once the normal farm chores are done we can jump on school.

One of my favorite things....a really good cup of coffee when it is needed the most.
I switched coffees this morning, I am really liking the new brand
I am waiting to hear hubbies comments. He can tell in a heart beat any time I change something
It is very hard to foul him, I have tried with fat free and reduced fat, caught every time.
He can tell if his steak has been frozen.

A few plans this week...
orchestra, children's choir, and a birthday party with a family friend.
beach right now we are trying to go at least once a week.
We lost a our bike riding last week do to a full schedule I am really hoping
this week we will be able to go. I feel so much better physically and mentally.

Here is a picture I am sharing...
laying in our huge patch of wild flowers looking up at the stars
Thank you Peggy for hosting this weekly reminder how simple life really is.

Spring is in the air and so are babies....

On Saturday our baby had her babies 3 to be total.
Sweetie had come up missing and one boy was very concerned.
We knew she would be having babies any day.
So we were checking on her a few times a day.
We just did not know where she would choose.

We called and looked for her with nothing.
So this morning before the children woke I went out said her name and she meowed.
Then I heard a kitten, took a couple of time before I located exactly where
she was.

Sweetie had gone under the deck about a 30-45 minutes we had
a couple of deck boards up and had the new mommy and her three babies out.
Mommy is happy inside with her babies, I am glad I made this choice since
tonight we are having some severe weather.

This is the boy that was very concerned. When he woke to find his
cat was OK then to see the little precious babies, he lite up.
I have not seen the type of smile on his little face before that this kittens brought
to him. Was just amazing how he took in the miracle of life.

These little ones are Snow, Rosy, Emily, Suzy and Jr.
We are looking forward to eggs in October.
Suzy will lay blue and green
Snow will lay brown
Emily will lay white
Rosy will lay brown

Suzy

Jr our Rooster can't wait to see him grow his beautiful feathers
He is a Brown leg horn

Snow and Suzy

And in here are newly hatched babies. Not sure how many the report from the
boys is 3. I was hoping for blue birds but it looks like some little finch type bird.
Another good thing is the blue birds are still around saw them flying today.
Oh and the other babies are the chimney sweeps are back
for the 4th year.

These are from last year when they some how found themselves stuck
below the damper. They made it back to nest safely.
As you can see spring and new life and the renewing of old
is in full bloom around the farm.
Just love this time of year.
Thank you Jesus...

it today to the special young lady.

I am hearing...
local news on the tv

From the kitchen..
Steaks tonight rest of the week is unplanned
day by day right now.

Around the house..

the blessings we receive along with the trials and the many challenges
we have been facing what seems to be none stop

I am thinking...
of school work

I am thankful....
this wonderful weather. I so love this time of year.

I am wearing...
Faith - God will provide

I am remembering...
memorizing bible verses should be a priority
right along with math and the other schooling.

I am creating...
almost done with the scarf just 2 more
to finish before end of May.

I am going..
to concentrate on school today then off to children's choir.

I am hoping and praying...
for young mom having surgery this week due to cancer.

From the learning rooms..
bible verse memory, The wonder books for choir.
Math, spelling and LLATL which includes reading this week.

I am hearing...
dish being put away by two boys
Marissa is practicing her violin, this is such a blessing. She has a
new teacher and the change has been awesome.

From the kitchen...
this week we really have no plans for meals
sounds terrible I know but there is a reason.

Around the house...
farm animals have been feed, kitchen work done, some school has
begun. Time to wrap up the computer and move on in school and the

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today April 6, 2010

Outside my window...
The air is crisp the sun is shining. Sun just reached the
tops of the trees as it raises this morning.

I am thinking...
about the scare we all received last night
on our bike ride.

I am thankful..
God's protection and my children's very quick response.

I am wearing..
Our Lord's forgiveness.

I am remembering..
the Fruits of the Spirit
How important they are daily in our lives.

I am creating...
another scarf, I have 3 I need to make.
I am still working on the lap quilt.

I am going...
to get the children and myself moving very shortly.

I am hoping and praying...
for all the young mom's dealing with cancer.
Some are just beginning the journey.

From the learning rooms...
we are chipping away at the normal books.
Marissa just finished up her blue LLATL book and has moved into
the red LLATL. She says "I am a big girl now".
Biggest lesson for my children this year is learning God's lessons.
He has a plan and he will take care of you.

I am hearing...
it is quite, a fans hum, my husband sleeping and
Pipper ( our Quaker parrot) he is ringing his bell.
He wants someone to come say hello to him.

From the kitchen...
I have no plans
it is grocery shopping time and right now
so tonight and tomorrow will be what is in the freezer
or pantry. Hopefully by Thursday we can go do the shopping.

Around the house...
dishes need to be done, family animals feed and
laundry maintained. Other then that we will be doing school this morning.

One of my favorite things...
our bike rides every evening, we are doing it as a family.

A few plans for the rest of the week....
Children's choir today with a meeting before hand.
Orchestra on Wednesday hopefully grocery shopping Thursday.

Here is a picture thought...
took this picture on Sunday. I just love how it reminds my of Jesus.
Thank you Peggy for the time to reflect each week on our life.
Also for reminding simple is worth so much more then anything else.

Peace- Jennifer Knapp

Lord has his wonderful timing last week to use this song to speak to me.
I needed him close to me as I learned of another friend with cancer.
May it now speak to you also,

Pictures of our Tradition

Begin 14 yrs ago every Easter we have a cook out and egg hunt. As the children grow older things are changing, scavenger hunts in place of eggs and more games for the children to enjoy.
The one thing that will never change is wanting to enjoy the day with family.
A tradition was born and the children share how much it means to them.

Nathan's version of a sack race.

Anyone ready for sand cake for dessert?

Collin just relaxing and enjoying the day.

Collin with his best friend, his Papa.

Jon and dad preparing for fishing.

Aunt Mary enjoying the family.

Mimi having a afternoon full of grandchildren.

My man!

Friendly Pelican joining us in fishing.

At one time we say 3 Pelicans.

Diving for a fish, the splash is huge and loud.

Picture speaks to me of a reminder that is Resurrection Sunday!
(this will the picture on my daybook)

as the sun begins to settle

We saw a 8' alligator in the lake. No swimming for us.....

The day is good we had each other......

Thank you stopping by and being a part of our day.
