The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today Monday July 27, 2009

Outside my Window...the sun is coming up I hope we have showers again today. It brought a nice breeze and some wonderful cooler weather yesterday.

I am Thinking....what am I not thinking about. I wish my thoughts in my head could learn Simplicity and order.

From the learning rooms....we are set up to get into the swing of school. I have maps on the table for Geography. We are using Beautiful Feet, kids love the literature way of learning. Then we are going to enjoy some science today. Some plans this year is to do more reading together. Hoping to get into some book clubs with our friends. We are going to do some comprehension guides, together. And of course a daily math lesson.

I am Thankful for...Freedom. Every time this morning I began typing; each thing came back to freedom. Freedom to teach my children, Freedom to choose what store to shop in, Freedom to choose my curriculum to use. Freedom to choose heaven or hell.............

From the kitchen...coffee is brewed. As for today and food preparation not sure were that my lead. Sausage, beans and corn bread? Spaghetti?

I am wearing...my nightie. Not sure what I want to wear yet. Would be easy if I would ever finish the ironing.

I am reading...I have to admit my reading is decreased. Have much I would like to complete.

I am hoping...For a calmer school year.

I am creating...black dress for baby girl, the 2nd sock for #2 son.

I am praying...for my home. I don't have answers, all I can do is pray, I don't want to move I love my home and my piece of country living. But, I do want to follow God's will for me and my family. When God allows us to know if we stay or go. I pray I have the right attitude.

Around the house...all is quite. The children are waking one by one very quietly.

One of my favorite things...my children laying in bed with me as we watch a movie together.

Few plans for this week....getting back into school. Setting up my appointment for the evaluation. Maybe another beach visit.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you... Saturday night at the beach. Little pool on shore perfect for the kids.

Beach

We spotted Dolphins swimming across the shore

Baby girl learning to use the boggy board

Having fun in the waves

Baby girl getting a lift from big brother to see the dolphins jumping

My wonderful hard working hubby after a long day at work.

The rip current was very strong last night.

Our baby girl has no fear and wants to be with her big brothers. My oldest though is the best big brother she could ever ask for….

Looking forward to the next fun evening at the beach.

Smocked sundress, I did it!

I have had the elastic thread for months now. Wanting to try my hand at smocking for a very long time.
So yesterday it went like this walking through the blog world. Stop off at here at one shabby chick
She had a link to Heather Ross on Martha Stewart. Turned out there was a video and Heather showing who to make this dress. Made my day!!!
Heather Ross is the one who wrote Week End Sewing. I so want this book, especially after the peek into the book I found yesterday. Thank you Heather.
Now I am off to make this same dress in my size. Plan on wearing it to the beach today.
Have a blessed day everyone.

For Today... July 20, 2009
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW....the sun is out but overcast, which will keep the heat down today. Hopefully more rain will come.
I AM THINKING....of the wonderful, powerful message pastor gave yesterday on joy.
REAL JOY!
Having it even through all the hard times.
How close are we to the last lap?
Why are we not cheering to the finish line?
FROM THE LEARNING ROOMS...last minute papers with the younger two. The older two are done just need to complete cover pages and finish their portfolio.
They older two have began the next year already.
We will beginning the year with fun geography and hands on science,
we get to grow some mold....
I AM THANKFUL FOR..... That God has placed another very thoughtful God loving family in our life. The friendship and the blessings it brought to both our families have been
a wonderful witness to others of God's grace and love.
FROM THE KITCHEN...glue as my husband referred to it.
Fried rice.
I can not cook rice and we had a good laugh over it with dear friends.
We will have that and egg rolls and fried dough (carnival style)
I AM WEARING....denim skirt and a black tank top.
I AM READING....not much reading this week. Trying to do a daily devotion at least.
I AM HOPING...to get some ironing done today.I have said this everyday for 2 weeks now.
I AM CREATING...the second sock which is now for my son instead of the husband.
I AM PRAYING...for the first time mom and her baby who is in NICU on ventilator (born Sunday morning). I am also praying for a friend and her mom. The news from the doctors just has not been good. We know God is the real doctor of all.
AROUND THE HOUSE...I here my younger two playing together, the older two are outside working together before the rain comes. We are already working on laundry,
which is one of many things we must do this week.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS....rejoicing in family. I spent some wonderful time this weekend with my MIL,sharing my church family with her.
FEW PLANS FOR THIS WEEK....renewal papers filled out, ironing and portfolio
(why do these things seem so tedious when they are simple tasks)
HERE IS A PICTURE THOUGHT I AM SHARING WITH YOU...this is not all the men in the family we were still missing a couple. But these are the majority of our men in our life. That we love very much...

Cooking lessons

Oh I wish I had taken my camera with me.
Today at church the ladies set up the nicest cooking class.
The tables were over the top.
The table my children and myself sat at was gold and crystal. ( Then I found out the history of the dishes and that the crystal was waterford. Eeekkk, and my kids are sitting here.oh my)
One of the ladies dressed as Paula Deane. It was a hoot.....
The food was good we all were served samples of every dish, as they taught us how to prepare each dish.
I came away really wanting to make the broccoli and chicken dish, it had stuffing and cheese. All my kids loved it. Now that is a miracle in its self to get 4 to agree.
In between each demonstration were commercial. You know commercial pay for shows. Boy do we have talent at church. They reenacted pay commercials but using the bible.
One was the NKJV vs KJV (Mac vs IE)
another was Two by Two ( match .com)
The last was the john3:16 (shammy commercial)
We left with door prizes, gift bags and a recipe.
Here is the recipe.
Life's Recipe
1 cup Good Thoughts
1 cup Consideration for Others
3 cups Forgiveness
1 cup Kind Deeds
2 cups Sacrifices for Others
2 cups Well-beaten Faults
Mix these thoroughly and add tears of joy and sorrow and sympathy for others. Fold in 4 cups prayer and faith to lighten other ingredients and raise texture to great height of Christian living. After pouring all this into your daily life, bake well with heat of human kindness. Serve with a smile.
(From Mrs. George Fleming, wife of Neb State Senator)
One of the ladies shared this with all of us after it was shared with her many years ago.
Hope you all, had a great Christian friend fun filled Saturday as I did. I personally am looking forward to next Ladies Cafe cooking lesson.

Blessings
